Re: Museum Ships
Thats an awful lot of vessels , of all shapes and sizes ,
Good to see that all these differing nationalities value and preserve them and recognise their value as part of their collective histories , well done Tim .

I was looking for the preserved Sverdlovsk cruiser that I believe to be accessible on the Black Sea somewhere, I have an inkling near Novorosysk? I couldn't find it in the list so have asked my Russian "civilian" colleagues to check for me....

Re: Museum Ships
Found this link about the Mikhail Kutuzov of the class.
Today, only one of the ships remain: the Mikhail Kutuzov. It is a museum ship in Novorossiysk.

Thank you both for tracking them down .......
Jim can you explain to me what the extensions either side of the turrets are please :-
Are they some kind of range finding device on each turret , or accommodation of some other device perhaps

great Stuff Jim, well found; Novorro-S is a huge oil terminal and commercial port, a mass of Russian grain is exported from here as well as oil. Never been though, its a corner of Russia I never got to visit.

Hi Ivor, not sure, might be something to do with range finding - Mr Putin might know.ivorthediver wrote: ↑Sat Sep 15, 2018 4:19 pm Thank you both for tracking them down .......

They are range finders for local control, if required due to battle damage. As you can see she has a main fire control director on her foretop plus another ahead of X turret.
I posted other pics of her in Russian Navy thread @ the Black Sea Fleet. DFO
