In memory of Pusser's Rum 31st July 2018

Unread post by limeybiker »

Better late than never, kudos to Tim for resurrecting WNSF, albeit disguised.
I have been suffering withdrawal symptoms, but all is peaceful here in sunny Ocala Florida.
I did my annual pose in the name of Pusser's rum, for Black Tot Day 2018.

Well done and duly noted Don , incidentally still awaiting promised bottle of Rum which you were gloating over a few watches back , both myself and the Chief Mod have developed severe dehydration since awaiting receipt from Hawaii .

Couple of images recording the sad day at HMS Tamar:-
1st - Snr Rates slow march off the parade ground;
2nd - Several colleagues imbiming in the company of the incumbent Sky Pilot.

Obviously the little fella with the beard is moi :)

Attribute 2nd Image to; Eric Blindell from the Squirrelshack group.

Some memorabilia from the last day of the tot, a sad anniversary.
I was serving as a killick on HMS Undaunted, which was Capt D of the Portland Squadron. For the last day of the tot the Squadron was dispersed and we were anchored in a small cove in the West Country, not far from Penzance, I think, as we dropped anchor there the next day.
On the last day of the tot, Up Spirits was piped and then a pipe that the NAAFI canteen was open for the beer issue. After the tot and a couple of cans, another pipe was made "Hands to Bathe, away the seaboats crew". We then spent some time jumping off the upper deck with the seaboat acting as safety boat. Leave was then given to one part of the watch, which included me, so off we went ashore in the sea boat, which landed us in the cove. There was a steep path up the cliff and we walked for a while inshore and came across a pub. Great merriment was made in the pub and there was a race in the pub yard with a couple of sack barrows. Each barrow had a driver and a passenger. For one of the races I was standing on the barrow as a passenger and the driver dropped the barrow. Unfortunately, my hards were gripped onto the handle behind me and I ended up splitting my finger open. At closing time we made our way, in the dark, back along the cliff to the cove. One of the Stokers fell down the cliff and ended up on a stretcher. I went to the sick bay next morning and the Doc said the cut in my finger should have been stitched, but it was too late by then so he put an elastoplast on it.

And yet another anniversary of that memorable day looms nearer .

Having said that whilst I am very found of that nectar , it pales beside that firewater that was passed around for tots on HMS Belfast by the HMS Coventry Crew , that is after they divided it equally amongst the crew " 1 for you 3 for us , 1 for you FREE for us :oops: :oops:

The event attended was memorable enough but the company we were in will last forever and again bless them .

This was 2020's Anniversary photograph, I put on my old uniform, the mice had been at my hat, but it doesn't show, and I never tried the trousers, I know they have shrunk in the Florida heat.
Zoey helped me counterbalance.
