The ill fated Northampton Class Heavy Cruiser USS Houston pictured with President Roosevelt aboard in the Panama Canal Locks on July 11th 1934...She was sunk in the Battle of Sunda Strait on March 1st 1942.

Northampton Class Heavy Cruiser USS Chicago pictured off Guadalcanal the day after the action, showing crewmen cutting away damaged plating to enable the ship to get underway. She had been torpedoed at her extreme bow during the Battle of Savo Island night action of August 9th 1942.
