Lead Ship, Heavy Cruiser USS Northampton pictured c1935....She was sunk during the Battle of Tassafaronga on December 1st 1942.

Northampton Class Heavy Cruiser USS Chicago pictured off Guadalcanal the day after the action, showing crewmen cutting away damaged plating to enable the ship to get underway. She had been torpedoed at her bow during the night action of August 9th 1942....She was sunk by Japanese aerial torpedoes in the Battle of Rennell Island, in the Solomon Islands, on January 30th 1943 with the loss of 63 crewmen..RIP Lest We Forget.
