Items of Interest to all Sections of the Branch

HISTORY OF HMS MERCURY

"Thanks Ken Sutton
For anyone interested I have just posted up a video titled The History of HMS Mercury. This video was found in a box of exhibits in the museum. Sadly the tape was slightly "chewed up" but I think the whole video is there. The picture quality isn't great but it does bring back some fond memories."

Luxury compared to the Old Open Bridges or even the Enclosed Bridges ..... no sign of the old ATP1 [was it?] and I wonder can they still splice a Halyard Dave

I see they still use the screen/formation board albeit it's no longer a perspex and chinagraph operation

I would imagine a few of our old skills still remain Harry . It sure would have been nice to have today's "comforts" around in our day but , heyho , time marches on and you cannot stop progress .

Having watched the QE and DUNCAN documentaries I am impressed with the standards today even if I still think some of them need tweeking a tad.
