Hello from Rob Hoole

Unread post by Rob Hoole »

Hello everyone.

I was a long-term member of the WNSF forum but someone recently introduced me to this site which seems to have replaced it. Unfortunately, I can't remember who it was and have tried in vain to find the relevant email, Facebook message or other notification. If you read this, please remind me because i think you also provided some useful information about HMAS Gascoyne.

As some will know, I left the Royal Navy in 2002 after 32 years as a Minewarfare & Clearance Diving Officer. I am also a naval author, historian and Vice Chairman & Webmaster of the MCD Officers' Association (MCDOA). Please look at its website's Latest News page for information about current RN minewarfare & diving operations, particularly the activities of MCMVs. The website also contains much historical information and many photos in its News Archives and elsewhere.

Welcome to the Forum Rob, it is good to see you on here.

In a few of my posts/threads I have made mention of your valued opinion(s) being sadly missed, so I include a few links to posts where I have referenced your name. I trust you will venture towards the linked threads in the fullness of time and look forward to any opinion you may decide to make.

I posted; Note; I imagine that had Rob Hoole of Minewarfare & Clearance Diving Officers' Association (MCDOA) and WNSF, been on this forum, there may have been no need for this post.

I posted; If you remember Ivor I had a 'debate' with Rob Hoole IIRC about the so-called system freeze in the very first TV showing of HMS Daring D32 during a 'for exercise' air attack .... to my mind that was a perfect example of the 'de-grading' that, quite contrary to being manageable could have been anything but!!! Just my opinion you understand.

I posted; The MCDOA (Mine Clearance Divers Officers Association) carries the missile recovery story and video without comment and they are without doubt the RN experts. I note that former WNSF member Rob Hoole knows the source from whence the information emanates in the Norwegian Navy. The article ...
