a few of mine, mostly from the 1961-3 commission of TTL with F17, imagine more than 17 squadrons of frigates. Tenby and Torquay joined half way through.

I presented Tenby's deck plate to the RNLI station at Tenby in South Wales which made them happy, the head of the station was ex-Andrew and actually trained in Tenby earlier in life.

that's about it...the full commission is described in the Lewin of Greenwich book. I went to sea in Tenby and remember her as being a comfortable and good seaboat. (teenager!)

Re: RN Frigates: Rothesay and Whitby Class Type 12
This type of frigate certainly seems to have been a excellent design for the RN at the time. They had a unique RN look to them that was quite unlike anything else afloat.
Back in the early 70s I built my JFS scale models of the several classes of this overall type; found them quite interesting to scratch build. My fingers and eyes worked together then to quite easily build these tiny frigates.
Were they to "limited" to take on new electronics plus SAMs as threats evolved??? DFO
