Many thanks Brian, I split this post from the Juneau Class thread as I believe the loss of this ship gave rise to the later class of that name, for which you already have a thread.

A very nice photo of her, before loss in the S. Pacific. These were very handsome little cruisers that were thrown in the various battles off Guadalcanal against battleships and heavy cruisers, plus anything else that could fire or drop bombs. Hence her loss and ATLANTA. :( DFO

A early shot of the ATLANTA! :D Also the later FLINT. Note square bridge and removal of waist 5" 38s for more 40 mm. Handsome class of useful little cruisers......DFO

Modified Atlanta Class Light Cruiser USS Tucson pictured at Mare Island Naval Shipyard on February 17th 1949,at the start of her inactivation. The inactivation ran from February 16th until June 13th 1949.
