Water from fighting a tragic fire that had erupted on board the carrier USS Oriskany,pours from the ship into the waters of the South China Sea,October 26th 1966.

The fire was quite serious and was started by a parachute flare. 44 crewmen lost their lives..... However, she was repaired and continued to serve and fight with distinction. She was the last Essex and had been completed post war. She finally was sunk as a artificial reef........DFO
