Her sister, SARATOGA, seemed to be torpedo bait. She was hit enough to keep her out of several major battles. LEXINGTON really only was in one-Coral Sea-where she was sunk. By the time of her loss the 4 8" turrets had been pulled, but only light AA were used as replacements.

I finally finished my 40+ year old hull of LEXINGTON a few years back. Her close spaced twin 8" turrets (single cradle) were a real "thrill" in the JFS scale I use!! DFO
