Not unlike HMS Cordelia of the same period.
HMS Pelican 1938 - 1958 GGCV L86 U86 F86 What I Have I Hold ~ A wonderful bird is the Pelican its beak can hold more than its belly can.

Actually, the upper photo is of the battleship Alphonso XIII 1915-1937. 13, not 12.

The lower one is of the unprotected cruiser Alphonso XII 1891-1900. 12, not 13.

There was also a first-class protected cruiser Alphonso XIII 1900-1907*. 13, not 12.

* She was "commissioned" as a training ship, but in an incomplete state in 1896. She was not completed as a warship until 1900. Her sisters were Reina Regente and Lepanto.

Here is a photo and a drawing of the earlier A-13:

A "new" photo of CANARIAS fitting out in 1934, with her JUGE original trunked funnel........ :) Also, a colorized view of her, and a later twin funnel shot: rather graceful and balanced looking then. The "ultimate" RN heavy cruiser, even if she was Spanish. DFO
