The USS Gerald R. Ford Carrier Strike Group (GRFCSG) including USS Normandy, Ramage, McFaul and Thomas Hudner currently in the Atlantic operating with European partners. Ford is due to anchor in the Solent Monday-Thursday next week.

USS Gerald R. Ford: 'World's largest warship' spending four days in The Solent next week

Gosport Ferry and Solent Cruises are putting on sailings allowing people to go out and admire the massive vessel

USS Thomas Hudner - the first ship of the USS Gerald R Ford Carrier Strike Group arrives in Portsmouth this morning. Ford is due to anchor in the Solent around lunchtime.

An F/A-18E Super Hornet, attached to the "Ragin' Bulls" of Strike Fighter Squadron (VFA) 37, is chocked and chained to the flight deck of the first-in-class aircraft carrier USS Gerald R. Ford (CVN-78), November 7th, Atlantic Ocean.

Up close with the world’s largest warship

On 14th November the US Navy’s new aircraft carrier, USS Gerald R. Ford arrived in UK waters for her first visit to Europe. The 100,000-ton ship is the largest, most expensive and arguably the most powerful warship ever built. Here we report from onboard about her first operational deployment and now this vessel represents a step change in carrier aviation.
