HMS Nautilus was a one-off submarine, ordered in 1912, her building commenced a year later. She was the largest submarine built for the Royal Navy at that time and the first to be given a name, rather than a number. She spent most of her time with the 1st Submarine Squadron and most of that time as its Depot Ship for instructional purposes and a battery charging vessel. She was renamed N1 in 1917 and scrapped in 1922.
