I thought this video might be of interest to members.
From 'Save the Navy':
"Russian battlecruiser 'Pyotr Velikiy' in St Petersburg Designed in the 1970s but still one of the most beautiful and awe-inspiring warships of all time."
Russian battlecruiser 'Pyotr Velikiy' in St Petersburg:

Personally I think that "HMS VANGUARD was'nt bad looking either!"

PETYR VELIKY and KUZNETSOV are the 2 huge "prides" of the Russian Fleet. Of the 4 units built, only PV is operational. The ADM. NAKIMOV will be finished with her modernization...uhh...umm?? The other 2 are apparently rusting hulks....... ;)

These 4 units are the largest non-CVs built since WW2.

Here are some pictures of rusting KIROV from a few years back...DFO

Do you know why so many of the Russian capitol ships have "railway lines" in the decking Please :?:

Obviously its not for trains , but is it for movement of Missiles or such like :?:

The newest Soviet cruisers in WW2 were the "semi-heavy" KIROVS armed with 9-7.1" main guns. None did much at sea, but in the Baltic they did help defend Leningrad. Units of the class served into the 1970s.

Note the different bridge area structure on the MOLOTOV........ DFO

One KIROV class unit, the x-VOROSHILOV, served as a BSF test bed for new missiles and radars.... :o DFO
