Very fine photo, a have a similar one taken by my father, guessing this must be in the first commission in 1939?

On joining the fleet, HMS Belfast had to swap the red ensign of the merchant service for the white of the Royal Navy.
Unfortunately, the red ensign became stuck and had to be un-jammed by hand.

Great photos Brian. The file name on the first photo says prewar, but this is postwar with the pennant C19 showing. Also, a couple of postwar cars on deck beside the motor boat.
