Renown Class Battlecruiser HMS Repulse pictured mooring to a buoy at Scapa Flow in 1939..*Note her starboard anchor has been 'catted', a long since forgotten seamanship exercise where the anchor was attached to the 'catting clumphead' (by what was known as a 'catting necklace'), in a position known as 'a cock-bill'. this enabled it's dis-connected anchor cable end to be used to attach to a buoy. Using a buoy 'jumper', ferried to the buoy in a whaler,( I have done this), to connect the mooring shackle to the buoy..
