A now fairly well known pair of photos on sister MUSHASHI. Sure gives a good idea of the massive beam! ...DFO

A Beautiful design flawed by advancing technology , and the birth of the carrier regime envisaged and produced when others still believed in the old adage of armour and shell size....... in my opinion , [easy to say now when the facts had already been proven ] but thank god others saw past the illusion and backed a winner with competent designs and the determination to pay back,... both in number and..... with interest ........

Here is an interesting find...The Yamato Museum in Japan has released this photograph of Musashi, one of those "never before seen" photos. Since the article accompanying it was in Japanese, I could not find out the when and where of the photo or any details that establish it beyond doubt as authentic, although the Yamato Musuem would be highly unlikely to be taken in by a fake.

On this day, 7 April 1945, the YAMATO made her one way kamikaze run........to the bottom of the Pacific. Thousands of IJN sailors lost their lives uselessly......... Four, out of 8, destroyers survived, but 4 went down along with cl YAHAGI and 4 other DDs. DFO
