Type 42 (AKA Sheffield Class), Guided Missile Air Defence Destroyer HMS Liverpool pictured on March 19th 2012...She was built at Cammell Laird Shipyards at Birkenhead, Merseyside and launched on September 25th 1980, she was the last Type 42 Batch 2 in service. She was formally decommissioned on March 30th 2012.

Falklands War veteran, Batch I Type 42 Air Defence Destroyer HMS Cardiff...she was scrapped in 2008.

Batch III Type 42 Air Defence Destroyer HMS York pictured c2009..She was scrapped in Turkey in 2015.

Batch 1 Type 42 Air Defence Destroyer HMS Newcastle, she was launched in 1975 at Swan, Hunter Shipyard, Wallsend and was decommissioned on February 1st 2005.

Lovely photo Brian thanks for posting it, she was the last ship that my son served on before he left the RN. He still has his cap, with HMS Liverpool on the cap tally on display in his house.

Type 42 Air Warfare Destroyer HMS Liverpool pictured on the Clyde with Invincible Class Light Carrier HMS Ark Royal on April 13th 2010.
