Only three boats built in this Class out of the ten proposed Coastal Submarines, F1, F2 & F3. All served during the First World War. These boats were double hulled and were fitted with stern tubes.

I think the Oberon Class in the 1960's were the last Class to be fitted with stern tubes. I am no expert on current systems but I believe with modern, Spearfish, torpedoes, they can be sent in any direction and will find their target, a bit like laser guided bombs. The Upholder Class and Astute Class have six torpedo tubes forward.
