USS Widgeon pictured alongside the stern of USS Arizona, probably on or about December 8th 1941. Arizona's two after triple 14/45 gun turrets, visible at left, were later removed and turned over to the Army for use as coastal defense batteries on Oahu. In the right distance is the hulk of the old Minelayer Baltimore.

USS ARIZONA BB-39 At sea in 1934

Re. The gunnery clock seen below the lower yard. I've never understood its purpose and use. The R.N. used similar. Can anyone explain in simple terms please?

On the next 'deck' down seems to be a 'predictor' similar to what I saw in WW II on news reels? Can anyone confirm please?
