Heavy Cruisers: Prinz Eugen

The Kriegsmarine's "lucky ship", damaged at various times but she was 1 of 2 large German warships to survive WW2. She sailed with BISMARCK, but survived by escaping to Brest. She made the Channel Dash with SCHARNHORST and GNEISENAU; the only one of the 3 not mined. While she lost her stern attempting to go north to Norway, she did survive to be repaired.
Returning, IIRC, from a NGFS mission in the Baltic she rammed the almost immobile LIEPZIG in thick fog. Despite severe damage to her bow, she was repaired in record time. She ended the war in Copenhagen. The USN took her and she ultimately sank from A-bomb tests in the Pacific. The capsized hulk lays in shallow waters however. DFO

BTW, the 2-8" rifles in A turret were removed for testing by the USN postwar. DFO

Tugs were pulling her away from the alongside repair ship. She muddled back to Germany bow first. Steering of the temporary rudders was done by muscle power!!
