Re: Sunderland Visitors
Hello Barry, came across this poor quality photo which was printed in the Sunderland Echo, not sure if it was 1965 - I was on my way East on the Ark then.limeybiker wrote: ↑Mon Aug 20, 2018 6:26 pm These are from Newcastle, The Brewery visit making Newcastle Brown, fantastic run ashore.

Re: Sunderland Visitors
Many thanks Jim, according to Neil McCart's book she arrived in Sunderland, 25th March 1965, I joined her in Guzz 27th May, the day she sailed to Gib, where I had left just one month earlier.jbryce1437 wrote: ↑Mon Aug 20, 2018 8:47 pmHello Barry, came across this poor quality photo which was printed in the Sunderland Echo, not sure if it was 1965 - I was on my way East on the Ark then.limeybiker wrote: ↑Mon Aug 20, 2018 6:26 pm These are from Newcastle, The Brewery visit making Newcastle Brown, fantastic run ashore.

Re: Sunderland Visitors
Hi Barry, there is also a Tiger crest in the bar at Sunderland Yacht Club, so it was probably presented during that visit. Visiting RN ships are few and far between these days, Whats left of the fleet is probably overstretched. I see the next RN ship to be adoped by Sunderland is the Submarine HMS Anson, so it is very unlikely that she will be a visitor.

Re: Sunderland Visitors
Sad days in deed, when we did a cruise of the UK on Tiger visiting Hull, Middlesbrough, Newcastle, Belfast, Glasgow, Liverpool and Cardiff in 1965, the hospitality was overwhelming and the likes of which will never be seen again.jbryce1437 wrote: ↑Tue Aug 21, 2018 4:00 pm Hi Barry, there is also a Tiger crest in the bar at Sunderland Yacht Club, so it was probably presented during that visit. Re: Sunderland Visitors
Christmas Day, so I had a brisk walk along the riverside today, not many people about, except those walking their dogs. Federal Hudson arrived Sunderland on Christmas Eve and the crew are making ready to discharge the cargo after the holidays No doubt more steel for the Nissan works.
