Early and WW2 views of the NEW YORK............ Note JEAN BART in background of the Casablanca picture.
I wonder how her 14" would have worked vs. HSF battleships??? Was our fire control on BBs in WW1 as good as or better than the RNs? That could have been a decisive factor......one way or the other. DFO

Too radioactive for scrapping or a memorial in her home state, the ship was sunk as a target on 8 July 1948 off Hawaii. She is shown here bottom up in her final moments.

Navsource has that photo (in a slightly different form) with the following caption:Brian James wrote: ↑Wed Feb 05, 2020 4:13 am Undated...New York Class Dreadnought Battleship USS Texas.
Official USN photo courtesy The Ships and Aircraft of the United States Fleet by Admiral James C. Fahey, courtesy of Tommy Trampp.
The 1.1" quad and 20mm single gun mounts show it is sometime in early WW2.
The quad 1.1" mounts were replaced by quad 40mm mounts in June 1943, and more 20mm mounts placed atop the upper turrets, as shown in the below photo dated by Navsource as "after June 30 1943 and before 25 January 1944.
