What is it that causes the equidistant stains on the flank of the vessel please, I thought perhaps it was urinal outlets but surely not 15 of them on each side :o :?:
Not sure if you are referring to the Escape Hatches, which were larger than a porthole and enabled crew to escape in an emergency. I think they are open in one of the photos, probably for ventilation purposes in a hot climate (pre air conditioning days ;-) )

both Black Prince and Bellona were very active as part of the 10th DF actions in 1944 to prevent the enemy bringing convoys and warships up the channel from the West coast of France to interfere with D Day. Prior to the forming of this multi national fighting force of destroyers we lost in one night the Charybdis (cruiser) and Limborne (Hunt) off the channel islands where there is a memorial. The 10th DF was highly successful with the back-up of these small cruisers.
British Tribals
Tartar
Ashanti
Eskimo
Javelin (not Tribal)
Canadian Tribals
Haida
Huron
Athabaskan (lost)
Polish destroyers
Piorun
Blyskawica.
