Right I'm with you know .....
you can see why they were so keen on Aircraft Carriers , they loved staking them on every ship they had by the looks of the recent photo's posted Dennis .......many thanks

The IBUKI was the only one ALMOST built on a CA hull, but never finished!! She was only one of improved MOGAMI class laid down.

IBUKI was 658' oa x 69'7". 12,500-14,800 tons. Only 29 knots (?). 27 planes as cvl. Her flight deck was 672.5' x 75.5'. She was towed to Sasebo in Nov. '43 for conversion to a cvl. Work was halted in Mar., '45...80% complete. BU at Sasebo in 1947.

No problem, hope others find this info interesting, too! Trying to dig up info n pics in late 50s early 60s on IJN, in the West, was a real bit of Sherlock Holmes!!! The pictures were mostly so dark as to be almost useless, and what little info was available was suspect.
Using Jane's was a prime source but both of the afore mentioned problems were abundant as I found out much later...... DFO
