In just 50 days’ time the whole nation will come together to remember the sacrifices made on D-Day and thank the veterans of the Normandy Landings.

Sir Humphrey
Who'd have thought that scrapping, without replacement nearly 50% of your tactical airlift fleet, and then incorrectly claiming the RAF had more airlift capacity than at any point since WW2 would backfire.
Another example of the devasting loss of C130J.

The stories of our DDay heroes can never be forgotten & I will ensure this year’s #DDay80 commemorations deliver on that promise.
I was proud to join veterans on HMS Belfast today, alongside @GillianKeegan, as they inspired a new generation of schoolchildren with their bravery.

The Wrens, unsung British heroines of the D-Day landings in Normandy

When the largest-ever combined airborne and amphibious military operation took place on the coast of Normandy 80 years ago, men were not solely to commend for its meticulous preparation. The success of D-Day can also be attributed to a unique branch of the British Royal Navy comprised of women known as the “Wrens”.
