Royal Navy: Plans for HMS Royal Oak memorial submitted to Portsmouth City Council

Plans for a new memorial for those lost during the sinking of HMS Royal Oak in the Second World War have been submitted to Portsmouth City Council.

My uncle, William (Billy) Tate was on Royal Oak when she was sunk. He managed to escape but was severely scalded and died from his burns in the Naval Hospital at Invergordon some 12 days after the sinking. His name is listed on the War Memorial on Southsea Common.
