Nuclear Attack Submarines: Skipjack Class

Workers at General Dynamics Electric Boat Corp pictured assembling the sail of Lead Ship, Attack Submarine USS Skipjack at Groton, Connecticut on May 8th 1958. Skipjack was decommissioned and stricken from the Naval Vessel Register on April 19th 1990, having served for 31 years in the USN. Skipjack entered the Nuclear Powered Ship and Submarine Recycling Program at Bremerton, Washington, on March 17th 1996. Recycling was completed on September 1st 1998.
