One definitely did NOT want one of those 16" shells dropped on one's foot! A few more from her past, including a couple getting her ready (1950) for those BIG shells!!.......DFO

Thanks Dennis , love to see these "Victualing " shots as it adds so much flavour to the forum along with how these massive beasts went together..... and brings these massive structures into life I think , and for those who served on them I apologise for my ignorance , and can you explain what the channels around the base of the shells were for please , was it some kind of seal inserted to assist in the shells propulsion.... or.... some part in the activation of the breach gas evacuation mechanism
