Aircraft Carriers: INS Vikramaditya
The story of the conversion of the ADMIRAL GORSHKOV (x-BAKU), fourth of the KIEV class, into India's "free" carrier is interesting. Of course the planes, training, etc were not "free".
It seemed to be a good deal, so India went for it. Approximately $2.3 billion and several years late the carrier was finally delivered to the Indian Fleet. Currently it is the only carrier they have. Note the small elevator, another reason the Mig-29 was chosen for the carrier. Her Mig complement has been reported as 12 plus several helos. Not a large airgroup given her 40,000 ton plus size. DFO

Here are 3 PV drawings: the first shows her as built with the add-ons to convert her into a carrier. Also a view of her still under construction, with the flight deck additions including her nose job, aka ski-jump! DFO
Note: the huge battle cruiser (KIROV hulk?) in the back ground, and the TYPHOON off her port bow.

Thanks Dennis , for sharing these photo's , I'm sure its an optical illusion but the superstructure looks to central to work
Busy harbour scene as you rightly point out , but still lots to do .....love the shot where the hull seems to levitate in mid air

Yea...40K + tons "floating" without H2O!!!
Remember the "Alaskan Highway" the CVA-01 design would have had? Definitely to MASSIVE to move, so the Russians designed literally, around it! DFO

A 2016 photo clearly showing her grafted on "nose"/ski jump and wider angled deck! This compares to the much earlier view of her as the sov BAKU. DFO

She completed her second refit with the Indian Fleet today. A similar, earlier view for comparison. Changes??? DFO
