Possibly Summer 1940.
HMS Ark Royal alongside Main Wharf.
HMS Hood alongside the South Mole.

A rare photograph of HMS Illustrious and HMS Ark Royal in the same picture.
AFAIK, the two ships were together briefly in August/September 1940 when the newly built Illustrious made passage through the Mediterranean to Alexandria and was covered by Force H and Ark Royal.
