The second Mogami Class Frigate Kumano pictured at Mitsui Engineering & Shipbuilding, Tamano Works Shipyard, Okayama, she is due to be commissioned in March.

The new KUMANO was put in service on the 22nd despite being the second unit of the class: efficient shipyard!! :) DFO

Japan Commissions First New Mogami-Class Multirole Frigate

The Kumano is the first of a planned 22 vessels of the class, which will include capabilities never seen before on a Japanese frigate.

Here are stern views of the first pair yesterday...... :) Hard to imagine a surface warship much "cleaner" looking!!

I definitely need to build a little "KUMANO" for my JMSDF squadron. :D DFO
