Evarts Class Destroyer Escort USS Sanders pictured on launch day at Puget Sound Navy Yard on June 18th 1943...She was originally designated for transfer to the UK. as BDE-40, she was laid down on September 7th 1942; named Sanders on June 14th 1943; reclassified DE-40 on June 16th 1943; and commissioned on October 1st 1943...After shakedown, she participated in patrol and escort duties in the Gilbert and Marshall Islands from January–July 1944, including a bombardment of Kusaie Island on June 1st. She then escorted support shipping to the Mariana Islands from August through October. Following patrol and escort duties in the Gilbert and Marshall Islands from November–March 1945, she guarded a logistics support group, supplying fast carrier task forces in the western Pacific, from April–June. Sailing via Pearl Harbor, she arrived at San Francisco, on July 15th for overhaul...Remaining on the United States West Coast, she was decommissioned on December 19th 1945. Struck from the Naval Vessel Register on January 8th 1946, she was delivered, on May 8th 1947, to the National Metal and Steel Corp, Terminal Island, and scrapped in 1948.

Launch day for Evarts Class Destroyer Escort USS John M Bermingham at Boston Navy Yard on November 17th 1943. she sailed to Charleston, South Carolina after V-J Day, arrived on September 9th, and decommissioned on October 12th, she was scrapped in March 1946.
