Salute to the RCN

Unread post by timlewin »

Nobody could wish for better friends and Allies. Tomorrow, 11th. December 2020, the Canadian flag will again fly from the masts of HMS Belfast celebrating the relationship between Canada and the RN. From the first day to the last, the RCN fought alongside the RN, in 1943 there were 80 Canadians serving in HMS Belfast when she fought the Scharnhorst, the Battle Honour of North Cape awarded to Belfast is shared with heartfelt appreciation with Canada.
Three Cheers for the RCN.

well done Jim, me too. In addition to the Canadians aboard HMSB at North Cape their Tribals were there too, Haida, Huron and Iroquois with ours, Ashanti, Eskimo and I think Tartar, defending the convoys in readiness for the Nazi destroyers with Scharnhorst, or even Scharnhorst herself, no one knew the destroyers had already been sent home. In the event Scharnhorst came within 20 miles of the Southern flank of the convoy, another 5 minutes and in gun range had they but known, make that tot a double!
