Only a few years later this proud battleship was reduced, at French hands, to this hulk...:( DFO

Ever get the feeling your missing something here :?: ......... :idea: .I assume she was scuttled to prevent the enemy capturing her ;)What ever the reasons they made a good job of it , but as you say such a tragic end to a Fine ship such as this :(

She, and the rest of the French Fleet at Toulon in late '42 when the Nazi's invaded Vichy France, were scuttled. Guns and turbines were destroyed. Later many were cut up as they were nothing but scrap...... :( DFO

Thanks for that Dennis .....I wondered if it might have been but not sure of the location of the picture , so again my thanks .

Still credit where Credit's due they made a good job of it judging by these photo's

Two more views of DUNKIRK, one in happier times, but the other........... :cry:

Handsome ships, but one must remember that the STRASBOURG's armor was improved quite a bit over her earlier sister. DFO
