I have not heard of any Vet. being issued with one of the 'new I.D. cards' yet Jim.
At the back of a long queue no doubt

A couple of posts by a Ganges Boy:

East Midlands Railways are not participating in this as I have just been informed by their Customer Services. You would do well to check so you don't embarrass yourselves. Shame on you EMR.

UPDATE UPDATE I have spoken with someone rather senior at Customer Relations at East Mids Railways and referred them to the Memo put out by the Rail Delivery Group, we can, after all have free travel to and from London. You must carry some ID that proves you have served, ID or Cert of Service, Vet Oyster card etc etc .... Win Win, I cant comment on the other Rail Companies.

Department for Transport

Rail travel will be free for serving military personnel and veterans to and from Services of Remembrance across anywhere in Britain.
To take advantage of the free travel offer Veterans can show a Veterans Railcard, a Veterans Oyster card or other proof of service – such as a Ministry of Defence-issued Veterans ID card, more here:

Royal Navy remembrance 2023. We will remember them.

As we pay tribute to those who have given their lives in service of their country, here we look at one example from the thousands of sacrifices made by the sailors of the Royal Navy.

HMS Holcombe was a Hunt class destroyer ordered as part of the war emergency construction programme and launched in Glasgow in April 1942. She is the only RN warship to have carried the name and had a career lasting less than two years, one of 132 British destroyers lost during the Second World War.

On 12th December 1943, a Sunday afternoon, almost 80 years ago, HMS Holcombe and her gallant crew were in action in the Mediterranean. She was one of six naval escorts for a slow convoy of merchant ships that had departed from Gibraltar on 9th December 1943 bound for Egypt. Her sister ship HMS Tynedale, part of the same convoy escort, had been torpedoed with the loss of 7 officers and 63 men earlier that day.

Sir Humphrey - pinstripedline

As we pause to remember, this front page captures my mood. We face challenging times, but we must all remember what was given so freely to enable us to be here today.

NSW Government

Today is Remembrance Day, a significant date that marks the end of the First World War, where we acknowledge those who died while serving our nation.
Poppies are projected onto the sails of the Sydney Opera House at dawn and dusk, serving as a touching tribute to the fallen.
At 11 am, we observe 1 minute of silence to pause and reflect on the profound significance of this day.
We will remember them.
Lest we forget.
