British light fleet carrier HMS Albion (R07) leaving Portsmouth on July 22, 1958, with 42 Cdo RM embarked.

This occurred before her 1961 conversion to a commando carrier and was in response to the Iraqi Revolution. At Portsmouth, 1000 eyebolts had to be welded to the deck to lash 500 vehicles.

HMS Hermes in Barrow dockyard in 1959 - shortly before commissioning, was taken at the exact moment Sub Lieutenant Albert Trotter took temporary command and ordered the entire crew to Port...
Albert's intention was to have the men join him in the Dirty Duck pub, in the port, but it was misinterpreted by the crew and almost cost the ship. It was Albert's last appointment before being dismissed. He moved to Peckham, South London and was known as Uncle Albert to friends and family.

I got to know Albert Trotter well, he was an Admiral in later years ;-)
