Re: Ship Identification
I have started a new thread for the Type 21 Amazon Class. http://lewin-of-greenwich-naval-history ... =71&t=2307
Incidently, HMS Arrow was adopted by the City of Sunderland. Unfortunately, I never managed to get a photo of her on a visit here.

Re: Ship Identification
Can anyone identify the ship astern of the Victorious, as she departs Sydney September 1945, part of the pennant number is 45.
I assume it is an Australian ship but could be any nationality.

Re: Ship Identification
My guess would be HMS Tenacious which had the pennant R45.limeybiker wrote: ↑Sun Feb 28, 2021 8:40 pm Can anyone identify the ship astern of the Victorious, as she departs Sydney September 1945, part of the pennant number is 45.

The only thing that would complicate it is if the photo was taken at the time of the British Pacific Fleet, when D45 was her sister ship - HMS Teazer. However, I think Tenacious is favourite.

Re: Ship Identification
Many thanks Jim, I agree Tenacious seems to be the best bet. Taken in September 1945, heading home after the War in the Pacific ended

Re: Ship Identification
H.M.S. NIMRO.
Hello All, I've been asked for assistance to identify this ship - if she exsisted? - but all search results end up with Nimrod.
My only thoughts are the possibility of a 'prop' for either a stage play, film or the Tally manufacturer produced faulty ones which somehow escaped and were kept and/or sold off later.
Any thoughts, suggestions or info would be appreciated.
Will get back to you if I receive anything useful.

Re: Ship Identification
There was a shore base HMS Nimrod at Campbeltown during the war, but not sure if they would have worn only a tally with HMS on or one with HMS Nimrod on.
