Lead Ship, Torpedo Boat Mistral pictured at Cherbourg c1902...The Class was really a modified Cyclone Class Torpedo Boat, with splinter armour. The Normand ship builders had urged the Navy to accept armoured Torpedo Boats over the previous 10 years but this ended up to be the only Class so equipped. Mistral was renamed Boree in 1925. (with her name being transferred for use of a new Destroyer Class), she was sold for breaking in 1928.
