Eric D Berryman

Unread post by ivorthediver »

It's with great sorrow that I inform the membership that Eric Berryman crossed the Bar having lost his long fight with Cancer in his early eighties .

Eric will best be known by his friends on this Forum for his involvement in the book " No Passport Required" which he co authored with Charlotte Hammond and was researched by our very own dear " Chalky White" [ Karens late Dad]

He is survived by his Wife" Bobby " and two daughters , and will be sadly missed by all who came in contact with him , and I am sure that our Tim will also be saddened to hear of this event

There appears to have been some conflicting information in the manner in which Eric crossed the Bar , and we are now advised that he did in fact die of a weakened heart [ having had one lung removed earlier ] which over recent events became to much to cope and he sadly passed away due to this and not cancer..... as previously led to believe ..........sorry for any confusion caused ......

He was a great man, a good friend, and a true history aficionado, we stayed in close contact over the past 20 years since we did the US Volunteers memorial at Greenwich. Only a few weeks ago Eric made a contribution to the veterans gathering for VE Day, this might have been cancelled pro tem but when life returns to something like normal, we will salute him. Without Eric, Chalky and Charlotte, these brave Americans would have been forgotten, a lost page of history.
Tim
