I hear from Halifax that the RCN has painted two ships, the frigate Regina and coastal patrol ship (corvette) Moncton in Atlantic camouflage for the year as a tribute to the massive contribution of the RCN to this longest of campaigns. A magnificent gesture, we all salute the RCN

Too true Tim . We salute the Men of the RCN [and our own of course] who ran the gauntlett in those dark days . We also salute the little ships , The Flower Class Corvettes , designed from Fishing Trawlers and they served us well , carrying on their trade in appalling conditions with the U Boats of Nazi Germany as their catch .

A great gesture and nice to see colour versions of the camouflage schemes.

The key, of course, to the success of the application of camouflage paint to these ships is their colours, Black and white and colourized photos from WW2 do not convey the true effect of camouflage.

thanks All, I keep close friendship with the RCN team in Canada House and in Halifax so I will pass everyone's comments back up the line, its always good when someone appreciates your efforts, especially in these dreary times under the virus-thumb. Keep them coming!

Looking back to last December I though now would be a timely reminder of the splendid event we enjoyed onboard HMSB with the Canadians and most of the Naval Defence diplomatic corps ; how much water has gone under the bridge in the last six months!

I hope we will get the possibility to repeat this annual event in 2020.
