Valentin Soldatov 1924-2020

Unread post by timlewin »

Over the weekend, Saturday night to be precise, Valentin Soldatov dipped below the horizon; He passed away in his sleep I am told. Valentin was a stalwart character, and friend. He had nine Victory missions to London to his credit. Conscripted into the northern Fleet at the age of 14 he went on to serve in MTB/MGBs in the Arctic rising to boatswain of his boat. These were mostly Vosper, Elco or Higgins boats brought with the Arctic convoys as deck cargo and did sterling inshore patrol work. We will miss him.
