LTCDR RN WW2 uniform jacket found in Poland

Unread post by greendragon »

A young (18 y.o.) woman was searching for clothes in a second hand shop in Bydgoszcz, Poland and found the RN WW2 LTCDR unform jacket.
She said: " the sleeve with golden stripes was sticking out the other stuff like it would like me to buy it".
Bought it of course for 2 Polish Zloty (50 eurocents) and then spent the night going through the internet pages in search for the owner whose name was on a tag of the uniform.
He served in WW2 and is said to be involved in the Channel mineclearing actions.
Unfortunately his name was not provided in the news so far but his family was found in the UK and they agreed on putting the jacket on display in the Polish NAVY Museum in Gdynia.

Regards,

I agree wholeheartedly Harry , and such a kindness .

I live in Cambridge GD and their are quite a few local Polish families and of course the training school for them to become intelligence gathers was based near by [ Saffron Walden I understand but could be wrong ] so many of your country men ended up in this neck of the woods .
