I didn't realise that you were using the Quick links option to see New Posts. I usually look down the Forum and the New Posts are highlighted in red.
I tried the Quick links method and two new posts were listed. I logged out, then logged back in again and used the same method and none of them were displayed as New Posts.

Sorry Jim for not mentioning 'Quick links'.

It is now removing unread posts!

I deliberately didn't read designeraccd's post on Russian Pre-Dreadnoughts as a test, then waited until 20.00 before trying again, and it has disappeared. I was logged on the whole time.

That method doesn't always work for me.
For example: Looking down the Forum now, there is no red marker against 'Russian Navy'. But going into the sub forum there is a red marker against the 'Pre Dreadnought' thread - the one I deliberately didn't read, as per my previous post.
Very strange.

I have asked Jack to look into the problem to see if there is an answer.
We are currently being inundated with a lot of member requests from people intent on posting spam and links to porn sites, etc. Not sure if their posts are appearing as New posts, but they certainly show up in my Notifications when I log in. I delete their posts as soon as I can and ban the member. Most of these "new" members join and stay logged in for around 5 minutes. Consequently, I believe anyone wanting to join the Forum would take more than 5 minutes to peruse the contents and items of interest - so they are banned. We haven't had a "genuine" member joining since you joined.

Just had a look and I cannot see a way to remove PM's from my inbox, I will ask the expert and get back on this.
Who was the PM sent from? If it was from someone who is lurking in the background, I can ban them and that might solve the problem.

I don't know if you already banned them... I've been away for over a year, and these were sent months ago.

I have had a reply from Jack and he has enabled the deletion of PM's so hope that solves the problem. I have also banned both of those users.
In the box displaying the PM, click on the x to delete a message.

Please note that some outages may occur over the next few days whilst tweaks are being made to the Forum software. Please be patient and keep trying, normal service will be resumed as soon as possible.

Hi all,

Apologies for the interruptions experienced over the past few days. The backend of the forum is currently being updated and as a consequence there will be some hiccups. Normal service should resume by the latest of Sunday.

Once again, apologies for the inconvenience and hold tight. I will keep Tim and Jim updated on the progress and work to get this resolved as soon as possible for you all.

Thank you,
Admin (Jack)
