Re: RN Aircraft Carriers: HMS Prince of Wales
PoW On the Firth of Forth this afternoon.
R09 will now anchor in the Firth of Forth for a few days and undergo further system and engine checks before heading out under the 3 Forth Bridges at a suitable low tide and into the North Sea for a further days of full engine/propulsion shake down tests.
The oily smoke is a temporary short affair resulting from oil pooling in the engines if they haven't started for a while!
On completion of those, R09 HMS Prince of Wales will head for her Portsmouth homeport, and both QEC carriers will be reunited again there after over 9 months.
