Submarines: Type U139

Long range Type U 139 Submarine SMU U-140 seen at Norfolk in 1919....U-140 surrendered and was ceded to the US in 1919,who used her for testing and German Submarine operation systems evaluations . Finally, Destroyer USS Dickersen (DD-157) sank her as a target in the Atlantic Ocean off Cape Charles, Virginia, on July 22nd 1921.
