Submarine "Arpão" of the Portuguese Navy operates over an aggregate of 4 days immersed under the Arctic ice

The submarine NRP "Arpão", S161, of the "Trident" class of the Portuguese Navy operating in the marginal ice zone of the Greenland Theater of Operations, on a mission that took it, from 28 April to 3 May 2024, to a aggregate of 4 days in immersion under the ice sheet of the Arctic Circle. This mission takes place within the broader context of NATO's Operation "Brilliant Shield", on patrol in the North Atlantic and the Arctic, over a total of 77 days, starting with the departure from the Lisbon Naval Base on April 3, 2024 and lasting until June 19, 2024.
