The little Russian gunboat and protected cruiser VARYAG (1899) faced over whelming odds in Feb., 1904 before succumbing to the 6 IJN cruisers and numerous smaller units. The KORIETZ was blown up after the battle. VARYAG's badly damaged "hulk" was captured by IJN. DFO
