ARA Almirante Brown was a Central Battery Ironclad of the Argentine Navy built in the 1880s by Samuda Brothers,on the Isle of Dogs,London. Almirante Brown displaced 4,200 long tons and had a top speed of 14 knots. She was protected by a belt of nine-inch steel-faced armour and she carried a main battery of eight 8inch breech-loading guns. She was among the first major warships in the world to use steel armor, and remained the largest vessel in the Argentine fleet for over 15 years. Almirante Brown had a peaceful career in the fleet during the 1880s and 1890s. By the 1920s, she was reduced to a coastal defense ship, and remained in service until the early 1930s. She was stricken from the naval register in November 1932 and sold for scrapping.

An ornate figurehead decoration on Rosario Class River Gunboat ARA Parana, her sister Rosario is to her starboard whilst to her port I believe is the Naval Training Ship ARA Presidente Sarmiento (now a Museum Ship)...dated c1912.
Argentina decided the construction of new warships due to the deterioration of relations with Brazil, who was after naval supremacy in South America. The Brazilian Navy ordered Riverine Monitors to patrol the border rivers; Argentina's response was to place a contract with the British Shipyard Armstrong, Mitchell & Co at Newcastle-upon-Tyne for the construction of two Riverine Gunboats.
The Rosario Class Gunboats had a shallow-draft metal hull with a single mast and funnel on the superstructure amidships. They had an armoured belt of 4-inch thick Krupp cemented armour, an armoured deck 1-inch thick, and armoured conning tower. They were powered by two Vickers triple-expansion steam engines fed by two Yarrow boilers, driving two propellers.
The main battery was composed of two 6 in howitzers and six 3 in guns. The secondary battery was composed of two 37 mm Nordenfelt autocannons and 4 to 8 0.301 in machine guns. It also carried two3 in) naval landing guns with wheeled carriage.
The Rosario Class was designed in the mid 1900s and the ships were laid down in 1907 and completed in 1908-1909. They were commissioned by the Argentine Navy in 1908-1909 and remained in service until the early 1950s.
Rosario and Paraná were frequently used to patrol the rivers Paraná and Uruguay; and were deployed to Asunción during the 1911 revolution in Paraguay. They were also used in training exercises, and occasionally deployed to Patagonia.
Both ships were sold for scrap after being decommissioned, and were broken up in the 1960s.

Argentine MEKO 140A16 Espora Class Fisheries OPV ARA Espora.... Espora and her five sister ships were part of the 1974 Naval Constructions National Plan, an initiative by the Argentine Navy to replace old World War II-vintage ships with more advanced warships. The original plan called for six MEKO 360H2 Destroyers, four of them to be built in Argentina, but the plan was later modified to include four MEKO Destroyers and six Corvettes for Anti-Surface Warfare and patrol operations. Espora was built at the Río Santiago Shipyard of the Astilleros y Fábricas Navales del Estado (State Shipyards and Naval Factories) state corporation. She was launched on January 23rd 1982, and officially delivered to the Navy on 5 July 5th 1985.She was commissioned on September 4th 1985,she is currently active.

The Argentine Navy took delivery of its first Gowind Class OPV, ARA Bouchard,(Ex FS L'Adroit) from Naval Group on December 6th at Toulon Naval Base.
The ship is the first of four Gowinds to be delivered and was commissioned after receiving some modifications as it was loaned by the shipyard to the French Navy since 2012. The other three vessels are expected to be delivered between 2021 and 2023. All will be newbuilds.
The vessel is the first of its kind to be commissioned to the Argentine Navy. The ships are meant to protect against illegal fishery and other activities.
