PLAN Type 056 Jiangdao Class Corvette 'Ningde'...The Type 056 (NATO code name: Jiangdao Class) is a Class of Light Frigate or Corvette designed for patrol, escort, and other general roles in coastal waters. Over 40 hulls in the Class have been launched at four shipyards since 2012 for both domestic use and foreign customers. An improved Type 056A with enhanced Anti-Submarine Warfare capabilities was introduced in 2015.

The 60th PLAN Project 056 Corvette (NATO reporting name Jiangdao) pictured on launch day at Huangpu Wenchong Shipyard in Guangzhou on May 10th 2019.
Project 056 Corvettes are designed to patrol territorial waters and the exclusive economic zone, escort, Anti-Submarine and Anti-Ship Warfare, protect fisheries, and also replace several types of patrol ships and part of the outdated Jianghu I Class Frigates of project 053H. Although their construction began in 2012, the fleet of ships of the project 056 is already one of the largest in the PLA Navy. At present, 49 Corvettes of the project 056 have been accepted into the PLA Navy, and another 11 units are at various stages of construction fitting out and testing. The average rate of delivery of Corvettes is one ship every six weeks.

These corvettes, like the modern Rooshunn ones, look to carry quite a PUNCH! The exact opposite of the U$N'$ waste of money: PO$ LC$...... DFO

and for good measure....a Type 056 firing its 76 mm main gun. Good thing the "transformational" PO$ LC$ has a gr8 BAE 57 mm popgun with bouncing shells! Less chance of hurting someone perhaps?? DFO
